L. Douglas Lee founded Economics from Washington
in 1999 after 16 years in the securities industry. During that period, he served as Chief
Economist for HSBC Securities, NatWest USA, and Washington Analysis Corporation.
While employed by NatWest and HSBC, Dr. Lee was responsible for
the US
economic forecasting and policy analysis for their global research teams.
From 1981 to 1983, he was a senior economist at Data Resources
Inc. and manager of their Defense Information Service. Prior to that, he served
as Chief Economist and Research Director for the Joint Economic
Committee of Congress. He has published
numerous articles, is quoted regularly by major news organizations and
magazines, and appears frequently on CNBC, CNN, Nightly Business Report,
Bloomberg and Reuters. He received his B.A. from Rice
University, M.S.F.S. from Georgetown University,
and Ph. D. from George
